Registration now open; public invited to Showcase on June 26
June 20, 2023 – Louisville, KY: Local production house Media Pros Production is excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new program, Upcoming Storytellers, presented by Presbyterian Church U.S.A. (PCUSA) and in partnership with Roots 101 and Boys and Girls Club of Kentuckiana. The free, one-week media training initiative designed for youth ages 14-18 will take place July 10-14, 2023. Participants can register online and the public is invited to a showcase and open house to learn more on June 26 from 4:30-6:30pm.
“We must create a space for young individuals to create, connect with peers, and learn from like-minded mentors working in the media industry,” said Brelin Tilford, CEO of Media Pros Productions. “This program is going to change the game for Louisville high school students interested in storytelling and media.”
The primary mission of Upcoming Storytellers is to empower young people through meaningful and innovative educational programs, fostering creativity and nurturing future leaders in the field of media and communications.
Upcoming Storytellers will run from July 10 to July 14 in downtown Louisville at PC(USA) Headquarters, providing hands-on training and mentorship opportunities for Louisville high school students interested in storytelling and media. Participants will learn directly from experienced professionals, gaining invaluable insights into the use of equipment, conducting interviews, and creating podcasts. Workshops will be conducted by Roots 101 with a curriculum focused on providing historical context and cultural inclusivity.
Media Pros Productions invites the public to join an open house event taking place on June 26, from 4:30-6:30 pm at the new office space, 100 Witherspoon Street. This showcase will feature a recap of the program’s spring session held at four Boys and Girls Club locations around the city, providing attendees a glimpse into the activities and projects students have been working on. The event is open to all ages and serves to promote awareness of upcoming Upcoming Storytellers programs. To register, visit: https://yourmediapros.com/youth-programs/
